Finding Your Path- Book Review

Updated: Apr 12, 2021

Throughout my schooling years, I felt as though everyone around me knew exactly what they wanted to do after school- study to be a doctor, a dentist or an engineer. To say the least, I felt very very stressed because I had no idea what I wanted to do. How could I? I hadn’t ever experienced any of these jobs so how could I just pick one to do for the rest of my life?

I did heaps of online career quizzes, met with career counsellors and spoke to friends and family. Not one of these things helped to give me a clear vision of what I wanted to do after school.

If I had some good advice to guide me through this time, it would have been a lot less stressful. Amba Brown recently sent me a copy of her book “Finding Your Path: A Guide to Life and Happiness”. It aims to assist students in deciding what they want to do after graduating. Had I read it when I was in high school, life both in and after school would have probably been much less stressful for me.

“Finding Your Path” is a wonderful resource to turn to if you are unsure about what to do after school. The book itself is engaging and easy to read, with diagrams, illustrations and quotes scattered throughout the book. It is easily one of the most aesthetic books I’ve had my hands on! Amba does a wonderful job at exploring many different routes to take after school- from travelling to further study to working.

“Finding Your Path” is great at putting the world after school into perspective. It helps you to realise things that many people only realise long after they’ve finished school. You’ll learn that it’s okay to try different things and still not know what you want to do. You’ll learn that their are more options than you might have thought. And you’ll learn that there are many others struggling with the same things you are and that most students really don’t know what to do after school.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is unsure about what to do after school. I found it to be super relatable – Amba has been through what many of us are going through and wrote a book on how to tackle this difficult transition from school to adulthood.

It teaches you to trust yourself enough to create your own path after school- not follow anyone else’s. Amba provides unbiased advice and information so that you can make the best decision for yourself!

Thanks for some great advice Amba!

You can buy the book on Amba’s website!
